How to get to Des Moines, Iowa
- Des Moines is easily accessible by auto or air.
- By air: Des Moines International Airport (airport code DSM) is a 15-minute drive from Drake University. A traveler-friendly airport, DSM airport serves 24 cities with nonstop service and typically welcomes nearly 3 million people annually.
- By auto: Des Moines is located at the intersection of I-35 and I-80 and within a day’s drive from major cities including Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Omaha. Drake University is located just blocks off I-235 at the 31st Street exit.

Getting around
- The conference hotel is located directly across the street from Drake University and provides complimentary self-parking.
- Drake features a walkable campus with green spaces between campus buildings. Click here for an interactive campus map.
- Des Moines has a bus system, but if you plan to explore our city you may wish to rent a vehicle. And while Des Moines has ride services, since the pandemic these services haven’t been as reliable as pre-pandemic. If you are flying to Des Moines, several car rental services operate from Des Moines International Airport.
- Some area hotels provide customers shuttle service to and from Des Moines International Airport.

Des Moines is a vibrant, mid-sized city offering a variety of attractions, events, live music, theater, a local food scene, and more. We encourage in-person attendees to add a day or two to your visit to explore the city and surrounding area.

- Principal Riverwalk. Stroll along the Des Moines River through downtown Des Moines.
